I’m feeling sentimental today. I’m thankful for my job and for the people I get to meet. I have so many wonderful clients who have stayed by me side even through the transition of moving to Houston and building my newborn and family photography business here. And I’m really grateful.
As a newborn and family photographer in Houston, I have the ability to grow old with the families I photograph. I treasure that I have that privilege.
You spend years photographing your clients from newborn pictures, to baptisms, to 1st birthday parties, family photos, and the list goes on. Then suddenly before you know it — everyone is growing up.
When I initially started my business, I’m not sure I realized the power of photography. But when you become a mommy…something clicks. You start taking millions of pictures and videos of your newborn. You think you will slow down because it’s all so new and she’s so stinkin’ cute right now but then months 3, 6, 12 roll around and you are STILL taking photos of your sweet baby (and constantly getting notifications that your storage is almost full — am I right?!). And if you’re like me, late at night when your sweet baby is sleeping, you go through and look at those pictures you took of her. You think about how small she used to be and how big she’s getting and how you just want to slow down time. And you think about who she is, who she will become and how wonderful it is being her mommy.
I’m pretty sure I’m rambling at this point (but I can do that..it’s my blog, right? ;) ). Anyway, photographs are valuable and timeless and you can’t put a price on those memories. You really can’t. And I’m thankful that I get to be a part of those moments for the many families I photograph.
Thank you to my clients (who have become my friends) from the bottom of my heart for letting me step into your lives for a few moments and capture something that is so amazingly beautiful — your family.
