The DL on Renée – Houston Wife, Photographer, Interior Designer Extraordinare

Okay, so, that last one is stretch. I like to call myself an interior designer but I imagine an actual interior designer would just call me a decorator. Lame. :( And I’m certainly not extraordinary but let me dream, people…let me dream!  :P

I’ve been thinking about sharing a little bit about myself! I know you all are super-duper curious.  ;) No, in all seriousness, I love learning a little bit about the people I follow on blogs. I want to connect with them.

My sweet mister’s name is Daniel. He is a strapping 6’3″ bright-blue-eyed man who happens to be a fancy-schmancy (I tried to look this word up in the dictionary, apparently it doesn’t exist… I’m using it, anyway. My blog. My rules.) professor who loves Armani suits and handmade ties and I love him for it (really,  I do…I think it’s awesome!) and who also has a blog that is about all things theology. Honestly, if you’re not a nerd you probably won’t enjoy it but if you are you will definitely want to check it out here: www.danielstreett.com. This man is the reason I started photography. I was reading a blog where a mom had started photographing her kids and within a year or so managed to become an amazing photographer. I thought to myself, hey…I CAN DO THAT!! So, I told Daniel, he bought me a camera, and here I am today and loving every minute of it. That man is also the reason I love interior design. Without him, none of our ideas would come to fruition.

Our interior design journey started right when we got married (oh dear, the HORRID taste we had when we first got married). When you walked into our living room it was as if Texas vomited everywhere (graphic, I know…but you need to visualize here). We had big bulky furniture, browns, reds, and golds EVERY WHERE.

I don’t dislike these colors (Hello! My logo is gold!) but everything is best in moderation. Then, we moved and sold some things (love me some Craigslist), then we moved again, sold some stuff and then bought some new stuff (YAY!). I hope to share some info on this blog of our interior design/renovation journey but until then, you can check out some of our latest house pictures by going HERE.The pic above is of our bedroom today. Those beams were built and installed by my husband, that TV console was built by my husband, that fireplace stone wall was installed by my husband (I did hand him the pieces…that counts for something, right?!). See what I mean? Nothing would come to fruition without him. So, can I just share with the blogging world that I’m SUPER DUPER thankful for him?!.

That’s just a tiny peek into my life. Hope you enjoy and perhaps I can share more as this blog gets rollin’!
