Since I’m a Houston newborn photographer I have photographed A LOT of nurseries! Take a look at some of my favorites here, here and here.
So when it came time for us to design our first baby’s nursery — I wanted it to be perfect! When my husband and I are designing a room, we always try to achieve a contemporary, timeless space with subtle hints of fun and color. I didn’t want the room to scream PINK! but I wanted it to have touches of pink so that the room still felt like a little girl’s room. The color palette we chose was creamy whites and greys with pink and gold as our accents. You can’t go wrong with that! :) I also wanted it to be a room that she could grow into. I think we achieved that!
My husband and I are BIG DIYers and we do large scale projects (you can see more of our DIY stuff on my personal Instagram account here: @itsmerenee or just search for the hashtag #streettrenovations. I am not making this up when I say my husband does all of the work (I help but I’m not the genius behind the amazing built-in bookcases, paneled walls, hardwoods, etc. — no contractors were used in this room). Some people think we’re crazy (like my mom…right, mom?! haha!) but we can’t help ourselves. We love having beautiful rooms in our home and the chaos is worth the end result (this is our third house to do this in and we are currently demo-ing our kitchen (see my Instagram account for more pics — my house is insane right now! haha!).
